The Gem Patch quilt was made as a beginner quilt tutorial for my Flosstube channel. There were several cross stitchers that wanted to learn a bit more about quilting so I created this video series for them. I used two charm packs from Michael Miller’s Midnight Gems line. I did a wavy cross hatch quilting that I wasn’t really thrilled with, but it worked out okay.
This quilt was made with leftover fabrics from the Among the Stars Block of the Month I purchased and sewed in 2013. I participated in the Aurifil Designer of the Month block of the month in 2014 and made this quilt with the leftovers from 2013. The quilt top sat in my room for a couple of years before I finally finished it in February in 2018. You can read more about it HERE.
I made this quilt for my son for Christmas of 2017, however I was actually late finishing it and he didn’t get the completed quilt until January of 2018. He loves the ocean, and as he is going into the Navy this quilt was perfect. It is Surf Song from Twist and Turn Bargello Quilts by Eileen Wright. I made this quilt several columns shorter than the pattern called for as I only wanted a twin size quilt and not queen sized. This quilt was made with Kona cotton solids instead of batiks. I started this quilt on December 7, 2017 and finished it on January 7th of 2018.
