Hello, and Happy Tuesday, friends! This past week ended up being a doozy for us! I was able to get a couple of bags sewn, but not all of them. I finished two Tula Pink Owl bags and an Alice bag as well.
I’m okay with only getting just the three bags sewn though, because we ended up with a get-in-now-or-wait-’til-May doctor’s appointment for my daughter in Phoenix on Friday. Everything is fine for her, but we snapped up that appointment on Wednesday when they called us and it changed our whole week! Since Phoenix is between 3.5 to 4 hours away depending on traffic, we were up long before Zero-dark-thirty to leave the house by 3:00am. Since it was dark on the drive to Phoenix (and early morning), I slept on the way there. But on the way back home I started a new travel stitching WIP since I finished my last one. This is A Little Luck by Lizzie Kate. And, with a little luck, I may actually have it finished by March!
That Friday launched us into a jam-packed weekend! I was finally ready to tackle Josh’s room. He and I had already discussed the things he wanted to save and what he wanted to donate. My daughter helped me sort and pack things up. She snagged a few things of her brother’s as well. Later she told me that was why she helped… so she could take what she wanted of his. Hahaha! Kids. I sent Josh a picture of his room and told him how empty it was. He commented back that the carpet was nasty. *Insert a HUMONGOUS Mom eyeroll* I responded that yes, it was. And that I wondered whose nasty feet was in there for 7+ years making it that way. He replied, “I dunno. Whose?” Ugh. That kid. We will be cleaning the carpet shortly. And I also need to start making plans for repainting and buying furniture for the room. Why? Because that is going to be my sewing room!!!! I AM SEWWWW EXCITED! I have IKEA pages bookmarked, ya’ll. I’m ready!
After spending the weekend on Josh’s room, I was ready to settle down late Sunday afternoon and stitch. At the beginning of the year I decided that I would start Cardinal Points by Long Dog Sampler on the last Sunday of January. So I have been looking forward all month to this past Sunday and this new start! This chart is amazing, and the flosses are hands-down gorgeous. It took me about an hour to prep the fabric and put the flosses on an organizer. I couldn’t help but take a picture of those flosses. So pretty! I decided to stitch this on a 36 count fabric in Antique White. I think the plain white background is going to let these flosses pop and make them the focus, as they should!
I made a pretty good start on this piece on Sunday and didn’t want to stop stitching. I wish there were more hours in the day!
This week I need to finish the bags I’ve already cut out and fused and prep more for next week. We also need to get the carpet cleaned in the new sewing room (I typed “Josh’s Room” and then had to delete it…LOL!!) and I need to start planning how I want to set up the room for my crafting. I look forward to seeing what you’ve been up to!
