Hello, and Happy Tuesday, friends! If you are in the snowier parts of the country, I hope you are doing okay after this recent storm. Stay safe and warm!
Last week I ended up with two stitchy finishes! One of them was actually completed on our flight home from Charleston, but I had already written and scheduled this blog post. I started this piece, Free & Brave by The Drawn Thread, on our trip to Chicago when we went to attend Josh’s boot camp graduation. It seemed fitting that I would finish it on our trip home from Josh’s A School graduation. This had some specialty stitches in, but only one was particularly challenging for me. The Sprat’s Heart stitch. I just couldn’t seem to get the counting down on that right at first. It took me some time, but I finally got it done. This piece was stitched 1 over 2 on 32 count Summer Khaki linen with the called for flosses.
I actually finished Free & Brave on the first leg of our trip home. We had a layover in Houston, so I started a new project in the airport there: Liberty Notes by Shepherd’s Bush. This was a super fun and quick stitch. Once we got home I stitched on this for the next three nights, so this was done in 4 days. This was stitched 1 over 2 on 32 count Country French Cafe Mocha linen with the called for flosses and the coordinating button pack. The day after finishing it I went to Hobby Lobby and found a perfect frame in the same color blue as the floss. I pinned the piece to some mat board that had two layers of batting glued to the top to add some puffiness to the finished piece. I used stitchery tape to secure the stitching to the mat board. I haven’t figured out lacing yet, but the stitchery tape works just fine.
Along with the stitchy finishes, I cut out bags last week and prepped them to sew for this week. I did manage to get one bag and a coordinating accessory pouch finished on Monday. This was an Alexander Henry Print called Trickery. I do like the Halloween fabrics! It was a slow start getting back into a routine after our trip, but I think this week will be a normal week for me. Yay!
This coming week I will be sewing the rest of the bags that I prepped last week. I don’t really have any other plans than that. I look forward to reading what you will be working on this week!
This week’s To-Do list:
