Hello again, and Happy Tuesday, friends! I’m trying hard to come up with energy and enthusiasm for crafting to share with you all, but I need to confess to feeling quite lost and unable to feel really excited about my hobbies right now. I was speaking with the Mister the other day and told him that after a year of being on constant deadlines, now I’m struggling to get back to where I was before all of those orders took off. I had so much excitement for so many projects, and now it is gone. I feel as though I *must* go get “to work” and sew something, but it’s a feeling of work, and not creating. Suffice it to say, right now I’m still decompressing from the work routine of sewing, and trying to find my way creatively right now.
As I am not motivated to create at the moment, I decided to dive into organizing all of my cross stitch supplies. I made a list of all charts I have completely kitted up, and I am currently in the process of logging all of the charts I have. As I go through all of these things I will sometimes be sitting in the hobby room and a fabric bundle here or there will catch my eye. The more I putter around out there, the more I hope some fabric will speak to me and scream out “make me into something wonderful!”
While sewing isn’t calling my name at the moment, I am still enjoying my cross stitching. It has been, and continues to be, the outlet I have for making something that is just for me. I started this chart as a WIP to work on while traveling. I enjoyed working on her for a bit, but found myself stitching on her at home, and not in the car! I also started to get a bit bored with the solid color, so I’ve put her away until our next road trip. The chart is called Stitchcraft and it’s from Lee Fisher of StitchyFish Designs.
After putting away Stitchcraft, I pulled out the one WIP that always brings me joy when working on it, Santa’s Village! I started working on the seventh house in the village, Christmas Tree Farm. I started coming down with something over the weekend, so I decided to just rest and stitch. I took my Emergen-C every day, and was making sure to take a generic Zicam every three hours as well. I switched between drinking water and hot tea to stay hydrated. I kept feeling like I was coming down with a cold, but it never seemed to turn into a full cold. I am so thankful! I have been obsessed with not getting sick with the flu that’s going around. I don’t think I’ve harped on everyone in the family to wash their hands as much as I have done the past month! I’m still being vigilant about hand washing, but ever so thankful I didn’t get fully sick (for now… we’ve got a ways to go before flu season is over)!
As far as my To-Do List, I’m leaving it blank right now. I am hoping that just being in the hobby room, perhaps playing with some of the fabrics will bring me some creative spark that I can run with. I think I need to not have the pressure of checking things off of a list this week, but just let things unfold as they will. Ironic, given the theme of the link-up, no?! But it’s good to acknowledge that while lists can help us stay organized and focused when we need them, that there are also times we have to set the list aside and just let the days unfold as they will.
I thank each and every one of you for linking up here as you can. You inspire me with your work and the things you feel led to share on your blogs every week. I appreciate you!

Hi Christine,
I feel badly that you are stressing over this! Please don’t. If you were to poke around and read other blogs, you would find there are MANY people in the same situation. It even has a name! The January blahs. So, enjoy your cross stitch. Your sewing mojo will return – before you know it you’ll be thinking about a piece of fabric that just speaks to you. My own to-do list has been very short and I go DAYS on end without sewing. {{Hugs}} Thanks for hosting the linky party even though you don’t feel like it! ~smile~ Roseanne

Thank you for such an encouraging comment, Roseanne! I am not really feeling stressed out; I think it’s more “meh” about it all. I didn’t know there was actually a name for it! Or that there were so many other people experiencing this right now. Perhaps it’s just the rush of the holidays and then the residual exhaustion afterwards. Either way, I’m sure you’re right that my sewing mojo will find its way back to me! Thank you for always leaving such kind and encouraging comments, I really appreciate them… and you!

Your Christmas cross stitch will be outstanding. I don’t enjoy doing cross stitch but I do like embroidery. It is good that you can enjoy something even if it is not what might normally have on your list. LIsts are great, but sometimes we do need a break from them. We hobby for fun. If you are going through a spell where it is a chore, taking a break is the right thing.

Thank you! I really enjoy Halloween themed cross stitching, but this Christmas piece brings me such joy! I think it’s the pretty reds in the piece, and the fact that there are 12 mini finishes that will make up the whole piece. It makes it seem less overwhelming for such a large project! Taking a break has been wonderful for me! I may take another week of puttering around the hobby room.

I really kept thinking that by purposefully having no list for making it was like taking Zicam for your cold. You had a remedy to stave off the NoMoJo Blues as well as a virus! We need to learn to have patience with ourselves, and rest our minds as well as our bodies. If nothing surfaces creatively, so be it, but I assume you need time without deadlines more than anything. And btw, I just discovered Zicam this year, and we all think it’s pretty wonderful!

The break/Zicam analogy is perfect! I feel like I am in a much better place this week than where I was last week. I still may take another week, but I feel my brain cycling around with project possibilities. That wasn’t happening last week! I’m still not putting any pressure for creating this coming week, I’m just going to let it all flow as it will again!
