To-Do Tuesday 9-19-17 | Bags, Bags, and Some Grime Guards

Happy Tuesday, friends! Time to check how we did with last week’s list, and decide what we want to accomplish this week! I had hoped to finish stitching Clue 6 of the Ship’s Manor Mystery Halloween Town SAL last week, but I barely spent any time stitching. I did make some progress, but most of my evenings were busy with other work, and my hand stitching time was spent sewing bag linings closed.

Stitch ALL The Things | Project Bag Collage

Speaking of bag linings, I did complete the large bag order I had been working on for three weeks. I finished it all one day before I anticipated I would be done, and because of that I was able to mail it out on Friday. It was a relief to have that completed a day earlier than expected! I didn’t have time to take pictures of the entire group of bags, so I made a collage of the individual pictures I took for the shop who ordered these. The collage above is all of the large sized zip top bags.

The top two rows of the picture above are large zip top bags. The two bottom rows are the accessory pouches. I really loved the fabrics we chose for these bags. Several bags almost didn’t make it out of the house because I wanted to keep them here with me… forever! Haha! These bags will be listed for sale at Down Sunshine Lane in next week or two.

Stitch ALL The Things | Grime Guards

On Monday I finished an order for a set of five grime guards. These are fun fabrics too, and I am definitely in the fall and halloween mood after making these! The Christmas fabrics are some favorite of my holiday fabrics, and the blue ornaments grime guard is made of a beautiful fabric that has silver metallic all throughout.

This week I have two additional orders scheduled to complete. I will be taking Thursday and Friday off of work for a long weekend, and I’m hoping to spend some great quality time with the Mister! He’s ready for me to come out of the sewing room for a couple of days.

This week’s To-Do list:

  • Continue working on shop order.
  • Stitch Clue 6 of Mystery Halloween Town

Now it’s your turn! Write up your post and link up using the InLinkz linky below.

    1. Thank you!! The assembly line sewing works for the large order, but it’s not my favorite thing to do. It’s efficient, but overwhelming when I look at the pile. I wasn’t going to take any more orders, but now that the large one is out of the way I am okay with doing one or two bags per day… Which is what is normally ordered. So I set up an order request form on the bag page, and the orders have trickled in over the last month. I have about two weeks worth set up right now (they had to wait until after this large one was done), but now I feel like I can fill small orders and still get some quilts made and Christmas sewing done!

  1. Hi Christine,
Wow – that is a LOT of bags. I’ll bet you feel quite accomplished now that the order is complete and on its merry way. You should! What is a grime guard? I love all the fabrics you chose for the bags and guards. ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Thank you! I do feel great after completing such a large order. The grime guards are what cross stitchers/embroiderers put around their hoop or QSnap’s to keep their work clean and free from the oil/grime that can rub off from our hands onto the edges of the fabric.

      1. Hi again,
Well, isn’t that clever?!! We used to own I cross stitch shop back in the 90s but I have never heard of that. What a great idea! Those are really cute. ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. So. Many. Bags. You’re so busy! Are you taking new orders again, or are these all from before? Hope you’re enjoying your long weekend out of the sewing room and with the Mister!

    1. The busiest time is over! I wasn’t going to take new orders, but you know me… always changing my mind! Brad and I talked about it and I feel like taking individual orders is not overwhelming for me, and still allows me time to get back to quilting and get my Christmas sewing done (I hope). He agreed with that, since it’s easier to schedule around an order of one or two bags vs. a bulk order. We are off to grab a Redbox movie and spend an afternoon doing nothing but being lazy on the couch!!
