Hello, my friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a very Happy Easter. I was so busy finishing up the large bag order, and then resting over the weekend, that I completely forgot to read your blogs from the last link up. I just realized it tonight when I noticed I had not even responded to comments on my blog from last week. Gulp! I hope to catch up on blog reading soon, and I apologize for not visiting you all last week.
I finally finished the 25 bag order on Thursday night. I was so excited! I spent Friday taking pictures of the bags, emailing the shop owner who commissioned them, and packaging them up. These are 15 of the 25 requested. I forgot to measure them exactly, but they are about 10″ high x 13″ wide, by 3″ deep at the base.
I had to share the coffee bag though. I wish the picture showed the chocolate glitter vinyl better. It’s so rich and just gorgeous.
But the best part is the interior! Those coffee beans are scrumptious! The interior is actually a bit darker than this, the only photo I took of it was really over exposed. The interior of all of the large bags has a long slip pocket that’s divided into three. The outside of the pocket is the same fabric as the bag interior, but for all of the bags I used a coordinating solid to create a faux binding on the pocket and to define where the pocket was in the bag.
The other 10 bags were these small zippered pouches. They measure approximately 7″ high x 9″ wide, by 1″ deep.
I had some very exciting mail arrive today. The Mister ordered me a Lowery workstand from Sew and So in the UK. We ordered it on the 4th of April, it shipped on the 5th, and arrived on the 17th! Super quick for a really large international package. I was blown away! I also absolutely love it. I happened to check pricing one day and it was on sale. I also was able to use their first time customer code to get 10% off, which essentially was the same as the shipping charge. All told, it cost $88 USD! I. Am. Thrilled! The picture above is to show the stand. The picture below is my actual, very messy, stitchy spot… Right next to the Mister!
This week I have to complete four project bag & tool pouch sets. I ended up asking my customer if I could push off her bags to this week. I really needed a break, and I had forgotten it was Easter weekend. Thankfully, she was very understanding, and I had a chance to relax and feel a bit refreshed before starting her bags. I also am preparing for the other large commission order that is highly likely to head my way before summer break. I will be scheduling that order so that I have weekends off. This way I won’t fear any burn out, and I’ll be available to run errands or hang out with the Mister and the kids. I may even have time to quilt the Mister’s quilt and bind it on one of the weekends, so he can finally enjoy his quilt! Now that summer’s right around the corner (for those of us in AZ, anyway), my timing is perfect!

Your bags are GORGEOUS!! Wow! I don’t think I’d have the patience to make 25 of the same thing! I wonder if you could identify one of the fabrics you used for me. It’s the blue floral in the picture to the right of the fabric that says drip all over it. I’m making a wedding gift and she loves florals with lots of blue!

Hi, Janice! Thank you for the wonderful compliment! That fabric is from the Lark fabric line by Amy Butler. It’s called Heirloom in Blue Sky. I bought it several years ago, I hope you can find more of the print still available!

Hi Christine! I love the idea of your to-do Tuesdays, and I’m going to run with it. I love your bags – especially the coffee one. It would make me wish for a good cuppa every time I used it. ~smile~ I am sure the shop owner will be very happy and thrilled to receive her order. ~smile~ I’m going to follow your blog so I can keep up on all the latest, and thank you for the motivation!

I think you definitely need to make that bag for yourself – after a break from them for a bit, or you won’t enjoy making it at all ~smile~

Thank you! I loved being able to stack them all up together and see what all of that work created. It was quite satisfying! I am glad I took the time to rest, I didn’t realize how much I needed the break until Friday when I felt so relieved to just be out of the room for a day… Except I took three days! haha!

So many pretty bags! You should be feeling very accomplished by now with all the bag orders you are filling. I’m wondering, where do you purchase the glitter vinyl? It adds such a nice sparkly touch to the bags. Is it hard to manipulate and sew through? I hope you continue to get rest, time with family, and stitching in your new frame on the weekends!

Thanks, Sharon! The glitter vinyl is MiKri Glitter Mirror Canvas (TM) Vinyl. It’s a canvas that’s coated with the glitter & vinyl. So it’s MUCH thinner than regular glitter vinyl. You can buy it from MiKri and they sell it in 9″ x 12″ sheets or 12″ x 54″ rolls. I get mine from Sew Sweetness since she was able to get them custom cut by MiKri into 18″ x 56″ and I need the extra width for bag making.

As beautiful as your bags are, I’m glad you’re able to take a wee break from them! Guess what? I have that coffee fabric as well as the coordinating coffee bean fabric! Aren’t they just the cutest you’ve seen? Congratulations on finishing your goal! Kudos to you!
