Happy Tuesday! I was happy to have gotten my finished Friday post of the Hippo Hobo bag posted on Friday. I am pretty sure my friend loves it. I’ve already cut out pattern pieces and interfaced them for my second Hippo Hobo bag.
I made the strap handle for the new bag last week. And then stopped. Do you see why? No? Those triangle rings are supposed to be what the strap is attached to. Not the hardware on the strap itself, which is supposed to be swivel hooks. Ugh. I didn’t have a long enough piece of the glitter vinyl to remake the strap, so I’ve got some on order. It should be here in a couple of days. In the meantime, I’ll be sewing the rest of the bag.
I spent one of two travel days working on my Ursula Michael Let’s Sew WIP. I didn’t get as far as I expected on this one. The road feels a lot bumpier when you are trying to find a tiny hole with your needle. Aida also seems to be a lot more unwieldy when you are trying to do quarter stitches, and black aida is not something I’d ever recommend working on without a lighted magnifying glass. I spent about a quarter of my stitching time frogging stitches than making them. Nevertheless, I am happy with the way it’s turning out and I hope to have a finish by next week!

I have made those kind of mistakes too. As a matter-of-fact, I sliced through a t-shirt this week and had to buy a replacement. … Didn’t share that in my blog this week. … Your 49ers bag turned out so well! And I love the brights you will be working with on your next bag! Cross stitch/embroidery on black sounds like a challenge to me – it is looking great. Looking forward to seeing your projects completed!

Oh no! It’s awful when you cut into other fabrics. Yikes! Glad you were able to find a replacement though! As usual I started my week off track by deciding to do a fabric destash on Instagram. I didn’t realize how much goes into preparing for one of these things! But I know that this fabric will be better of being used rather than sitting pretty on my shelves!

What a pain 😦 I hate it when I make boo boo’s like that 😦
If it make you feel better I put a zip pocket in the wrong way today – so that the interfacing was showing on the outside of the bag lining 😦
So we all make silly mistakes occasionally 😉 It was such a pain to unpick and re-do too!

Oh no!! That’s a mistake I am sure to make in the future! Sorry that happened to you, but you’re right we all make those silly mistakes. I’ve got my glitter vinyl in and I am excited to get this bag finished! This one is going to look amazing (in my oh-so-humble opinion!).

Wow, that 49ers bag is something else! I have family members who would go nuts for that… I can’t wait to see the second version. The fabric for the second Hippo Hobo bag looks so fun!
