I am linking up for the first time with Busy Hands Quilts Finished {or Not} Friday. And this week I’m in the {or Not} category.
I finished all of my Churn Dash blocks, decided on block placement, and started sewing the rows. I am not thrilled with the red fabric I chose to snowball the corners with. I am wishing now I would have chosen a darker red out of the bundle, but it’s done now. I may use a darker red thread in those diamond shapes when I quilt to give it some extra Oomph. The bottom two rows are finished and sewn together, with a third row finished and ready to be sewn to the bottom two. I usually sew from the bottom up because, as you can see, my “design wall” (batting hanging from the raw wooden shelving unit) isn’t very tall. I have to get those bottom blocks off the floor asap! I hope to have this top finished by later today or early Saturday afternoon.

I think using a red thread in quilting is a great idea. I often forget that the thread color can add so much more to a quilt’s design.

I’m hoping the red thread in quilting will give it the pop I think it needs! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

It’s a very pretty quilt top. I hope you come to love those corners once they are quilted.

Thank you! I am hoping after it’s all quilted I will love how it turns out. I love the fabrics that are in the quilt, so I’m sure I will like the end result. I just have to get there! Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!

Thanks! I’m hoping once it’s done I will love it more. I like it now, but I think it needs to be done before I love it.

I think it looks great! I love it. I think once it’s all together, you’ll like those corners more. It’s going to a spectacular quilt!

Aw, thanks! I hate when you get so far along and then regret a fabric you’ve chosen for one part and it’s just more work than it’s worth to change it. But after it’s all done and the quilting is there, I think I’ll love it. Thank goodness it’s just a quilt for me!!

Oh, the colors are very pretty! It’s a classic block but looks so modern here!

Lovely! I like the subtle red corners, but you must have been hoping for more of a pop.

You’re right, I was looking for a bit more pop. But I think once it’s all done I’m going to like it!

The snowballs is an awesome addition to the quilt. Very pretty.

Thank you! I saw the snowball corner idea on the Missouri Star Quilt Company churn dash tutorial video and loved it! I think it adds a little extra oomph to the quilt!

I also like the lighter red and think that a darker red with more punch might compete with the churn dashes and become cluttered. Emphasize the quilting in the churn dashes will bring them out more and recede the snowballs. Either way, it is beautiful and I know you will love it!

The more I think about it, the more I agree with you! Now that it’s assembled, and the border is on, I am liking the more muted red. Thanks so much for commenting! It’s always nice to get other opinions!!
