To-Do Tuesday

To-Do Tuesday 8-9-16 | Back to Quilting

This week past week had a lot of crazy in it, a lot of “are you kidding me?!” in it, some school shopping for the kids, and belated birthday shopping for my youngest daughter. It was quite a mix of busy-ness, stress, and some fun. Most importantly, it had sewing in it!

Churn Dash Blocks

I was thrilled to work on the Churn Dash blocks I started sewing over the summer. I finished all 42 blocks, and then started snowballing the corners on Sunday. On Monday I finished sewing the 2.5″ squares on the corners, trimmed the seams to 1/4″ and started pressing them. Half of the blocks are completely finished and the other half still needs to be pressed. This coming week I’ll finish up the blocks, decide on a layout, and assemble them into a finished top. I hope to get the backing sewn as well, but I am not adding it to my list. If that gets finished it will be a bonus!

MSQC haul

I had another happy mail day this week and received another order from the Missouri Star Quilt Company. They had a daily special on their new thread they debuted, and I decided to pick some up to try out. Somehow my cart also ended up with the Winter 2016 issue of BLOCK Magazine, a jelly roll of Volume II Mama Said Sew (to go with my charm pack I got last week), a layer cake of First Crush by Sweetwater, and an Amanda Herring Desert Bloom 10″ stacker. I have no idea why the fabric fairy keeps adding these things to my online cart, but she seems to know that they’ll make great quilts for the Oregon House!

    1. Thanks!! I seem to be discovering fabrics I didn’t know about, or really pay attention to. I don’t think the red/grey/aqua/black color scheme was on my radar until this house. I hope this week is a little less stressful too!!
