Have you ever had a sewing project where you made mistakes pretty much every step along the way? This week’s project was ‘THAT’ project for me: The Polaris bag, a pattern by Sew Sweetness for the March Bag of the Month.

It is a smaller bag, and a simpler pattern, so I cut out fabrics to make two bags. I figured I’d be done with both bags in a day in a half. I probably would have been, too, if I hadn’t had to take the bag apart repeatedly to fix stupid mistakes because I wasn’t paying attention when sewing. The bag is 99% finished, I just have to finish stitching the lining into the bag. Despite all of the struggles I think it turned out nicely, and I have a list of make-sure-not-to-do’s for the second bag!

The first Polaris bag I made I chose pretty Alison Glass fabric and Mirror Glitter Vinyl in Gunmetal. The second bag is more my usual edgy style; Alexander Henry Mindblown Skull Engines and orange Mirror Glitter Vinyl. Hopefully I’ll have less trouble with this bag. I’ll write a Finished Friday post after both bags are done.
What have you been working on? Any new finishes?

❤️❤️❤️❤️ the fabric choices in both bags!! The bag looks perfect, and I understand those bummer sewing days. Ugh.
I won’t talk about my unfinished deco dresden qal that I somehow screwed up. I’m waiting for an inspiration day to revive it. Meh. Lol.

Thanks! Right now I prefer to just look at this bag via this picture… that way I can’t see all of the glaring mistakes. I need to give it a day or two of space. I understand how you’re feeling about your unfinished quilt! I hope your inspiration day strikes sooner than you expect, I’d love to see it finished!

AAGGHH- I love your bag!! I have not seen that Alexander Henry before and it’s PERFECT for that oval. Keep mushing along – you’ll make it to 100% and it will be so worth it!

Thank you so much! I really do love the Alexander Henry print. Although now it has two oval shaped holes in it from fussy cutting…LOL!!

Thank you so much, Janelle! The second one is coming along much better. Probably because I finished the last episode of Downton Abbey when finishing the first bag… So now I’m not so distracted while sewing! LOL!!!

Ugh! I just hate when I have one of those days! But it is good just to step back and laugh at myself! Your bags are looking great. I have a friend who would love the Alison Glass bag – she loves butterflies! Your edgy skull engines but a smile on my face b/c I know that is so you! Happy piecing!

Aw, thanks, Sharon! Today was a much better day of sewing. It was like night and day as far as how it came together. If we hadn’t had early dinner plans I would have finished the second bag. I do like those crazy prints, I can’t explain why, but they just work for me! I do have to make a “normal people” bag every now and then though!

Thank you so much! I am sorry I didn’t respond sooner, things got a little crazy around here. The second bag did finish up a lot easier than the first. Lesson(s) learned!
