To-Do Tuesday 3-1-16 | Finishing up Bags

Happy Tuesday! How did you enjoy your extra day of the year? I was grateful for it, as I was able to complete my Rockstar Bag in February! I didn’t have time to take good pictures, so I’ll save them for a Finished Friday post. In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek…

Yesterday I received the handles I ordered from China for my February bag of the month, The Window Shopper Tote. I took a picture to show the difference in the handles. You can see that the ones with the screws are going to fit snugly together, whereas the lighter weight ones don’t really align well. I can even feel a difference, as the one with the tabs are much lighter than the others. I am very glad I decided to wait on this order to install the handles. The new ones are slightly smaller, but the stitching outline I sewed onto the bag will still work. Whew!

One super fun thing this week was that I finally received my Tula Pink hardware that I pre-ordered from Pink Door Fabrics way back when these debuted at Fall Market. It was love at first sight! I decided to take a picture of them all together with my treasured squirrel print that I asked Tula Pink to sign when she was at Quiltique in Las Vegas in 2015. It’s all so pretty together!

This week I need to install the handles on The Window Shopper tote and take pictures of both that bag and the Rockstar bag for future Finished Friday posts. Also, I will be reviewing a class for Sew Sweetness’ Craftsy Review Month. Every day during this month she will be hosting a post that either she, or another person/blogger, has written reviewing various Craftsy classes. You can see the schedule of reviews as well as links to the reviews HERE. My review of Mix and Match Clutch Bag Techniques by Janelle McKay of Emmaline Bags will be posted on March 23rd. I have been anxiously waiting for March to get here, and other commitments to end, so that I could start this class. I am excited that I will have time to begin the class this week!

This week’s To-Do list:

  • Take pictures of The Rockstar Bag and write a Finished Friday post
  • Take pictures of The Window Shopper Tote
  • Begin Craftsy class for review post

Now it’s your turn! Write up your post and link up using the InLinkz linky below.

  1. I absolutely love the new hardware! It looks so much nicer than the tabbed one. Also, now that you have your Tula gear; I’m super jealous! LOL. It looks so amazing on your signed Tula print. Cant wait to see pics of the finished Rock Star Bag!

    1. I just installed those handles today, and it just reiterated to me what a good decision it was to go with the screw-type handles. I love the Tula hardware so much, and I am using the snips constantly. Those were hands down the best purchase of the lot. I’m terrified of the seam ripper tho. I only put the blade on it for the picture and then immediately put the cover back on it, and stuffed it back into its packaging and put it in a drawer. I’m positive that I would cut a hole in my project were I to use it!

    1. I can’t stop looking at my scissors! What a funny thing to say, but they are so pretty! They cut amazingly well too, which is nice given that I actually intend on using the heck out of them! 🙂

  2. Your March seems to be going happily along! New hardware and Tula’s pretties! I’ve seen photos of Tula’s gear popping up all over the net. I was wondering if the scissors are sharp and wonderful as they are pretty.

    1. So far I am chugging along fine with the crafty plans. Fingers crossed it stays that way! The Tula hardware is amazingly useful. I believe the scissors are Ginghers, actually. I will have to check, but they cut as well as the brand new Ginghers Brad bought me last year. Incidentally, I was at Goodwill yesterday and there were a pair of Gingher shears there with the blade cover. For $1.99!!! They felt like they would cut well, and there were no knicks in the blade. I couldn’t pass it up for that price. But now I have three great pairs of fabric scissors to use. At least if someone breaks the scissors law and uses them on paper I won’t have to kill the culprit since I have extras…LOL!!!

  3. Sew Sweetness uses the handles with screws. I have not had the time to use them yet. One of many UFO’s to get to. Happy Creating.

    1. I am really pleased with how these installed. They look great, and feel solid. I actually ordered two sets, so I’m ready for another pattern with these grommet handles!
