To-Do Tuesday 12-15-15 | New Bag Making Book

Happy Tuesday! There are only a few weeks left in this year. Can you believe it?! It seems like 2015 just arrived, much less is already over!

I didn’t do any sewing this week, and wasn’t planning on doing any sewing related things. However, a couple of days ago I received my pre-ordered signed copy of Windy City Bags, a book by Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness. I spent an entire evening poring over the book. I loved it so much I wrote a review of it over on Amazon. Since I pre-ordered the book through Sara, I also received a free paper pattern of one of her bags and it happened to be on of her newest releases, the Appaloosa Bag. Yes!! I am ready for some time to become available so I can sew bags!

Bag of the Month Club

Another thing I did was to sign up for the 2016 Bag of the Month Club. From now until the end of December the sign up fee is $35. After December 31st the fee is $40. The club includes 6 bags, one released each month from January through June. If you’re interested in learning more, you can find additional information HERE.

At the end of this week we take the kids to their Dad so they can spend the holiday with him. Before they go for Christmas we are planning on some fun. We’ll be taking them to a local temporary ice skating rink. Hard to believe we have one here in Lake Havasu, but we do! We’ll also do our annual drive around town to see the Christmas lights. I’m excited to watch the kids fall all over themselves on the ice (they’ve never ice skated before), and to see the lights. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!! 🙂

Do you have any pre-holiday plans this week? Any last-minute holiday rushing you have to do? Or are you savoring the season? I know I am!

This week’s To-Do list:

  1. So Sara’s book is that good? Guess I’m going to have to add it to my wish list – especially since my bag making skills are in need of some serious improvement! Have fun with the Christmas lights & the ice skating. Also, safe travels on your trip too take the kids to their dad.

    1. Sara’s book is great! I really liked every single pattern in it. I would look at one bag and think, “Oh that’s perfect for so-and-so!” I’d get to the next bag and think the exact same thing. For all of the bags in the book!

Speaking of bag making books, I ended up with two copies of Lisa Lam’s The Bag Making Bible. I will send one copy to you. It’s my very favorite book on bag making. It’s not designed to be a book filled with bag patterns; Rather, it covers many of the various bag making techniques and has a few patterns to help learn them.

  2. I’ve read about the bag a month club. You are already an expert purse maker! But you might learn a few tricks in the club. Sure sounds like you and your family are having fun the Christmas Season! The last time I went ice skating, I was the one falling down! Enjoy the season and your family!

    1. I am such a sucker for a bag pattern, it’s ridiculous! We are having a really relaxed and joyful season. Every year I seem to lose more and more of my grinchiness and really relish the season. I “blame” Brad for that… he makes life so fun! I am excited for the kids to ice skate tomorrow night. I told them I couldn’t join them because I would take them, and everyone else in the rink, down with me! I am such a klutz I would be a danger to everyone! Hahahaha!!!

    1. Thanks!! I love making them! Brad asked me the other day if I knitted or crocheted. I told him I have never knitted a thing in my life, but I have crocheted… I just don’t do that any more because I don’t have time to do ALL of the hobbies! So I know exactly what you mean! LOL!!
