Happy Tuesday! I’m not a big fan of trickery… so there’s no April Fool’s joke laying in wait for you. Just call me Ms. Fuddy-Duddy!
I surprised myself by completing all of the blocks on my list this past week. I didn’t think I was going to accomplish much of anything, since I spent several days helping Mister with more auto work. Turns out I powered out four blocks in three days’ time… and that was with totally messing up all the paper pieces on one block and having to redo them all! I’m really pleased with what was accomplished.
I also ended up doing a bit more prep work on the secret quilt than I anticipated. I realized I did not have even half of the fabric needed to complete it, so I raided my stash. I was tempted to try and find more of the original fabric I had purchased (Verona by Riley Blake), and I even found a FQ bundle on Etsy. However, I am really trying to sew with only my stash, and of course part of quilting is mixing and matching fabrics! I had a half yard bundle of Bonjour Mon Ami, and selected several pieces from that line to coordinate with the Verona fabric. I posted a picture of them together on Instagram to see if I was thinking right about combining the two lines. I received a resounding YES from quite a few people. One day was spent starching and ironing all the fabrics and then cutting out all of the pieces needed for the quilt. I only have two 10″ squares left to embroider quotes on and I can start assembling the quilt! So excited to get to work on this project. This quilt is THE reason I started quilting! I’ll be able to share pictures and tell the story behind it in the middle of May.

Looking good! I seldom work with solids, but I’ve signed up for a BOM this year and am making myself use solids. No pictures on my blog yet tho. What pretties you have pulled together for the secret quilt!
