Hello, Friends! The Mister and I are back in Arizona safe and sound, and more than a little bit wilty with all this heat. This week is actually cooler, but there are tons of clouds around and that means moisture which means it’s NOT a dry heat. Blech!
We’ve settled in a bit since returning, and that means I can get back to sewing things! The Mister and I went to a new quilt shop in town that opened the week after we left for summer. I was impressed with how big their store was. They have a huge selection of fabrics there, and not just quilting cottons either. I love that they carry modern fabrics too! I didn’t really need anything, but found a cute print for a potential bag and, as I started up to the checkout, an out of print Tula Pink fabric caught my eye. It was from her Prince Charming line! And then I found another print from the line. I almost squealed like a little girl, but saved that for after I got into the car. I asked if they had more Tula, but they didn’t. I am so fortunate I found some of this fabric! They are just blenders from the line, but still! So excited!
Monday was an incredible Happy Mail day. I received my order from @oneygirldestash_ on Instagram. She had some great prices on great fabrics.
I had not seen the Paint print by Carrie Bloomston of Such Designs for Windham Fabrics before and I thought it would make a fantastic backing fabric. I also got some Newsprint 108″ Wideback by Carrie Bloomston, a charm pack of Volume II by Sweetwater for Moda, and a charm pack of Coral – Queen Of The Sea by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda. I also snagged a fat quarter blender from Tula Pink’s Hushabye line. Included in the package was a fantastic little goodie bag that had a pattern, some 2.5″ squares, and a seam ripper. How awesome is that?! Love shopping her destashes!
The mail delivery included even MORE happy mail and this package was from the Missouri Star Quilt Company. I am OVER THE MOON about this new Alpine line by Pink Chandelier for Wilmington Prints. I discovered the line when I received the emailed newsletter from the Missouri Star Quilt Company about a week and a half ago. Not only did I fall head over heels for the fabrics, I also immediately loved the MSQC Flying Geese Diamonds tutorial that showcases this fabric line. I bought everything needed to make the quilt (the Bella Solids layer cake is not shown), with a few minor changes. I purchased the red snowflake print for the border instead of a solid, the Cardinals (holy schmolies, I love those cardinals!) for the backing, and the red stripe for the binding. Because I LOVE a great striped binding! I also bought extra fabric to make reversible quilted placemats (the grey ornaments on one side and the cardinals on the other), and extra of the red stripe fabric to make napkins.
While browsing the line, I noticed this adorable panel. I took a picture of my panel, but it turned out awful so I used the picture from MSQC to really show how cute this is. These deer are too sweet and the cardinals on their backs are just perfect. This whole line matches the living room in the Oregon house perfectly, and I am excited to start making a Christmas quilt for the house and Christmas themed placemats, napkins, and even coasters.
I am chomping at the bit to get working on these Christmas projects, but I need to finish the Churn Dash quilt I started over the summer. So this week I’ll be doing that and getting the kids’ school shopping done. This is our last week of summer and we are going to enjoy it!
