To Do Tuesday 7-7-15 | Finished Quilt top and a Tutorial

This last week has been a very productive week for me! I finished the Aurifil 2013 Designer of the month quilt top. All of the fabric in this quilt top was left over from a Fat Quarter Shop’s Among The Stars BOM subscription. Every month they shipped fabric to complete two blocks. They shipped so much fabric I was able to get another complete quilt top out of it!! Love that!

I also wrote up and posted a tutorial for the Grungy Windows quilt. I really love how this top turned out. It’s an easy quilt to figure out, and doesn’t really require a tutorial, but what I liked most was being able to show how to make it with pre-cuts. I tend to keep buying pre-cuts even after promising myself I will never buy another pre-cut again. Sigh…

As far as making my Paradiso square in a square quilt, I’ve only gotten so far as to sort my charms and jelly roll strips and then cut the jelly roll strips into 5″ and 9″ lengths for sewing onto the charm squares. Hopefully this week I will get the blocks finished and sewn into a quilt top. I’ll be using the extra jelly roll pieces to make strip sets for a border when the quilt is done.

I still have not written the blog post for my nephew’s Iron Man quilt. So I am aiming to get that done and posted as a Friday Finish post.

The fabric I ordered to finish the border for the 2014 Sugar Block Club quilt came in this week, so finishing that border is also on my list.

Hope you are all enjoying your summer! Happy sewing!!

This week’s To-Do list:

  • Make Paradiso quilt blocks and assemble into a top.
  • Write a Friday Finish blog post

    1. I am so glad I’m finally finishing quilt tops that have been on my To-Do list for a while. That dog daycare, The Dog Bark, really is amazing. I am so happy we found a place like that here so that we don’t worry about them when we have to be gone for a long period of time. I already set up another day for them to be there so we can go to Portland and get a bunch of shopping done!!

  1. That is a lovely pile of Paradiso! (mine is still a layer cake minus one square!) Love your BOM, and really? you got 2 out of the fabric? Did you make the same quilt twice? And that Grunge quilt, you know how I like Grunge!

    1. I really did get two quilt tops out of one BOM fabric subscription! They really sent that much!! The first quilt was the subscription pattern itself called Among The Stars. The second quilt was this one…. the Aurifl Designer of the Month done in 2013. 12 different fabric designers came up with a block pattern each month. It was pretty fun. One of those blocks, the green one with the white center on the left side of the quilt, third row down was a hand-pieced block pattern. My first, and ONLY, hand piecing experience. With Y seams. The first time I ever sewed one of those too. NOT. A. FAN. Probably machine stitching a Y seam would be easier, but I haven’t attempted it since sewing that block!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment... You just made my day!!
