To-Do Tuesday 7-18-17 | Ghoul Tidings & Thrifting Fabrics

Hello, friends! It’s another To-Do Tuesday! Last week’s list consisted of a new cross stitching start, Ghoul Tidings by Plum Street Samplers, and continuing to work on the Master bedroom. We are not having much luck finding the furniture we want at reasonable prices, so this may be something we push off until next summer. I’m leaving it on the list, as we are always on the lookout for furniture to finish up this room.

Stitch ALL The Things | Ghoul Tidings WIP

As far as my cross stitching start, I made a lot of progress! This is for the Salem Not Forgotten stitch along that was started on Facebook and Instagram by some stitchy friends. This SAL is to remember those who were persecuted and killed in the Salem Witch Trials in 1692, as this year is the 325th anniversary. We could choose any piece that referenced that time period, Salem, and/or witches (hopefully incorporating the date within the piece). I chose Ghoul Tidings because I had the digital copy of the 2013 Halloween issue of Just Cross Stitch on my computer and–as this chart was in that issue–I had a chart I could use right away and not have to pay for. I only have two words, the date, another small pumpkin motif and my signature left to do and then this WIP is done. Except for fully finishing it off, which I will do when we get back to Arizona. I am hoping I will have time to finish this tonight, Monday, after I write this post. The lighting won’t be good enough to include a picture of this finish in this week’s post, so it will be in next Tuesday’s post.

Stitch AlL The Things | Goodwill Fabric Find Bag 2

On one of our trips out thrifting, we stopped at a Goodwill in West Salem that had someone’s donated fabric stash. The fabrics were bundled into bags that were $5 each. I picked three bags that I thought had good novelty prints for future bags. Some of the fabrics were JoAnns fabrics, and some were quilt shop fabrics. I thought the Country Blessings print (pictured above) was really cute. There’s a yard of the Country Blessings print, a yard of a great coordinating print (bottom right, but it doesn’t look great in the picture), and a few other half yard pieces.

I loved the coffee print and the musical prints in this bag. There was one yard each!

The last bag contained ten 9″ half square triangles made from Riley Blake’s Cottage Garden and what looks like Kona cotton in white. There was also a charm pack of some fabric line that I feel like I should know the name of, but I haven’t got a clue. If you know the name, would you please it in the comments? This also has a 4 yard cut of what feels like Moda Bella fabric, some other charm squares, a little HST made from Grunge, and some 7″ pastel plaid squares. The best part was the quilt as you go piece. I’m not sure what I will do with that, but I just might make a little project bag for me with it!

This week the Mister and I will still hunt for treasures at the thrift stores and furniture stores. I will also have another new cross stitch start. It’s not a large one, so I expect it will be done in a week.

This week’s To-Do list:

  • New cross stitch start
  • Continue working on master bedroom

To-Do Tuesday 4-4-17 | Back to work

Stitch ALL The Things | Commissioned Project Bags

Hello, friends! Things have settled back into a routine after our spring break vacation. I began working on a commission for six more Project Bags, and some matching accessory bags. I finished five of the project bags; the fabric for the sixth bag is being shipped. I am working on the accessory bags, but wasn’t able to complete them. I ran out of hot pink glitter vinyl, so I was unable to get the exterior pieced for one of the bags. That should arrive in a couple of days, so I am hoping to complete this order by the end of the week.

I also received a large order for accessory bags and larger zip pouches. I did the fabric pulls for those over the weekend and started cutting fabrics for two of the bags. These are going to be a lot of fun to make, and I will be showing pictures of them finished in a later post. There’s one particular bag I am very excited to make, and share with you!

To-Do Tuesday 3-7-17

Hello, friends! This week went by so fast. I wanted to take pictures of the status of my current cross stitching WIPs, but I forgot. I will try to remember for next week.

Stitch ALL The Things | Gingerbread House Project Bag

This week I had a commissioned order to make a Christmas themed Project Bag with this adorable Gingerbread House fabric. I LOVE the combination of the mint and pink for Christmas colors. I originally bought a red with white polka dots fabric as the accent for this print, but when I had the fabric at home I spied the pink striped print in my stash. When I pulled it and placed it next to the Christmas fabric…BAM! It was a perfect match. And now I wish I had ordered more than a half yard when I bought this a while ago. It’s out of print now. Bummer. I have enough of the striped fabric to make one more bag like this. If no one requests it, a bag just like this one might end up with me!

I have three more bags to make this week. The orders are trickling in, and at a manageable rate for me. I have to admit to feeling a bit burned out, so it’s nice to only have a couple to make per week, rather than two per day. I foresee some quilting time in my future. The Mister’s quilt needs to be done! We also have our fingers crossed that the weather will be nice for us to drive to Oregon for Spring Break. I am so looking forward to seeing the house again! We’ll have a bunch of work to do in a short amount of time, but that’s fine by me!

This week’s To-Do list:

  • Work on two commissions

To-Do Tuesday 2-7-17 | February

Stitch ALL The Things | Halloween Potion Bottles

Happy Tuesday, friends! Not too much to write about this week. Last week was busy with some traveling and my grandmother’s memorial service. The trip to my hometown and back was really quick and I brought a cold back with me. Blech! I did have time to sew a fun Halloween themed bag before I left, and then when I returned I made two grime guards and another Tula Pink bag that was ordered before I left for my trip.

This week I have a twelve bag order and a single bag order that I am currently helping a customer decide which fabrics to use. So a busy week ahead! I hope you all have a great week, and I can’t wait to see what you are working on!

This week’s To-Do list:

  • Work on Project Bag commissions
  • Create Project Bag page
