To-Do Tuesday 12-13-16 | Two New Starts

TWELVE DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!! Happy Tuesday! I thought I’d just give your heart a tiny jolt and remind you to get your tushies in gear and finish up your Holiday shopping! 😉

This past weekend I got all of my holiday cooking done and all packages were shipped off today. I made pure vanilla with my Instant Pot, baked 106 cookies, and made 110 chocolate peanut clusters. I’d just like to say that I am so thankful that USPS lets us print shipping labels at home. The line at the post office was out the door! The Mister and I went in the “Out” and, under the critical eye of every person standing in line who is determined to let NO ONE (us!) cut in front of them, we walked up to the counter where everyone drops off postage-paid packages, dropped our packages off, and sauntered back out of the Out door. Can I confess my feeling of delight at not having to wait? DELIGHTED. (And here I was wondering why karma kept getting me. Attitude much?!)

Stitch ALL The Things | Motorcycle Quilt

Enough of food, on to stitchy stuff! I started working on the Mister’s motorcycle quilt. This was a kit I picked up at Fabric Junction Quilt Shop in Sturgis, SD. The pattern is Mahjongg by Anne Wiens of Sweetgrass Creative Designs. This quilt is coming together really quickly. I have all of the different blocks sewn up, I just need to sew them all together and put the borders on. I put it up on the design wall so the Mister could see what the top was going to look like. Not a great picture, but it’ll do for now!

As far as cross stitching goes, the Burlesque Zombie Portrait is going a bit slower than I expected. I think I’m used to getting stuff done quickly, so this is a good lesson in patience (and, no, God, that is not a request for more lessons in patience!). I am still having fun stitching this one and I am super excited to get to the subject of the portrait!

Stitch ALL The Things | Stitchrovia I Love You So Much

My second new start was Stitchrovia’s I Love You So Very Much pattern. This was my first time stitching on 32 count fabric. I spent Saturday evening trying to grid the fabric. The glitter on the fabric, as well as the super small holes, were a nightmare. It took me two hours just to grid the perimeter and by the time I got to the end I was one cross stitch square short. I was so frustrated. The Mister suggested I just stitch from the middle, and without gridlines. My brain sort of locked up at the thought of that, but as that is how stitchers usually stitch anyway, I decided to give it a go. This progress is from one night of stitching, about two and a half hours worth. It was slow going for me, but my left eye didn’t get all twitchy and I only had to rip out 5 stitches!

I was going to talk about my plans for 2017 and to Stitch from Stash, but I’ve decided to make that a separate post. I should have that up within a week or so.

I hope your holiday season is going well and you are able to take time to savor it!
