To-Do Tuesday: 3-4-14

Yes, this is my fourth post in three days. Yes, I really do feel bad for spamming your feeds. No, I couldn’t wait a few days to post this because…. It’s To-Do Tuesday!!

I hope you all had a wonderful week and were able to do exactly what you wanted to do… Whether it was on your list or not!

Some of the blocks I finished this week!

Some of the blocks I finished this week!

I managed to cross everything off last week’s list and am officially caught up with all BOM’s and blog posts! There was a huge sigh of relief to be heard over here! Although, now that it’s March, I have to figure out when I’ll be catching up with the Bag of the Month Club… *sigh*

This week’s To-Do list will have all the items I want to get done in March, as well as this week. So I will most likely be moving some items to next week. I just don’t want to forget anything!

  • Quilt the Skill Builder Stitches block Done Mar 6th
  • Mail Thank You note/package Done Mar 5th
  • Make Week 7 Vintage Quilt Revival blocks Done Mar 7th
  • Make two of the March Bee Block (one for recipient & one for me)Got the block done for recipient. My block pieces are ready to be sewn together.
  • Finish making my block from the February Bee block Done Mar 8th
  • Make March Sugar Block Club Block
  • Finish embroidering blocks for secret quilt
  • Practice FMQ designs on paper at least three nights per week Still practicing every night, but met the weekly requirement I gave myself.
  • Write up How-To Make a Quilt for friend (if any of you know of a great blog tutorial for this, please leave it in the comments for me… no sense repeating the same thing!)
  • Create a better blog post schedule. Solution here is to not wait until Monday to write VQR posts. Need to have any “block finish” posts done by Thursday or Friday.
  • Write Sunday Stash Post Done Mar 9th
  • Create a How-To/Tips page for the Brother PQ-1500S
  • Make time to ride motorcycles with Mister this week (it’s not sewing/quilting related, but it is still important to us to make time for)Had a nice long ride on Mar 10th
  • Girl, get your hair did. Seriously. You’re two months overdue. (Make an appointment for Mister while you’re at it) Done Mar 10th.
  • Make January Bag of the Month
  • Make February Bag of the Month

To-Do Tuesday: 2-25-14

To Do Tuesday button

Another To-Do Tuesday is upon us! Thank you to all of you who linked up last week!  I enjoyed reading the projects you had planned.  How did it go?  Were you able to tackle a project or two? Or even your whole list?

This week was okay for me.  One of you mentioned that my list was ambitious.  I think that was actually an understatement!  I was able to get most of my list done, but not the whole thing.  Most of the week was spent catching up on my Vintage Quilt Revival blocks. I ended up re-doing one block, twice. I also put the borders on all of the blocks completed so far and trimmed them up to correct size.  That last part was NOT on my To-Do list, and I spent an entire day doing that rather than focusing on projects on my list.

These 3.5" blocks took longer to make than I anticipated.

I started my Stitches block for the 2014 Skill Builder BOM block today.  It was a lot more labor intensive than I anticipated.  I had hoped to finish the entire block today, but I only got 1/3 of it completed!  I might have been able to finish it this week had I not done extra work on the Vintage blocks, but I don’t regret that decision.  I remind myself that these lists are simply a way to have noted all of the current work I have to do, so as not to get overwhelmed.  If I have to rearrange or move them around, that’s okay… so long as I don’t keep putting them off on purpose.  I like to get to the end of the week with the whole list crossed off, but that’s not always going to happen.  Especially when I underestimate the time it takes to complete projects! (ALL. THE. TIME.)

1/3rd of the Stitches block is finished! (sorry for the blurry pic)

Okay, enough blathering, let’s get on with the list for this week!

  • Quilt Skillbuilder BOM 2014 “Ruler” and “Spools” blocks Done Mar 1st
  • Make Week 6 Vintage Quilt Revival blocks Done Mar 2nd
  • Write up Sugar Block Club blog post Done Mar 2nd
  • Write up the March 2nd Sunday Stash post Done Mar 1st
  • Make January Bag of the Month (put off until March)
  • Make February Bag of the Month (put off until March)

To-Do Tuesday: 2-18-14

It’s that time again… Time to whip out a To-Do list of things you’d like to accomplish for the next seven days! How did you do last week? I did better than I expected. I completed my Riley Blake Challenge Quilt (FINALLY!!!), finished my February Modern InstaBee block, made the Week 3 Vintage Quilt Revival blocks, and fixed my SkillBuilder 2014 ruler block (the instructions had some piecing wrong). I was able to get my Sugar Block Club fabric for the February block cut, but did not have time to assemble it today. This past week was pretty busy, and I even agreed to take on an extra project for someone in the midst of all that I had to do. I found that my list was helpful in that, 1. It kept me from starting other blocks that weren’t on the list (oh-so-tempting); and, 2. I actually stuck with what was on my list, despite the urge to put the “ucky” thing off for another week (ripping apart my ruler block and fixing it). Here’s this week’s To-Do list:

  • Package and mail Bee block Done Feb 18th
  • Finish February Sugar Block Club Block Done Feb 18th
  • Make Week 4 and Week 5 Vintage Quilt Revival blocks Done Feb 23rd
  • Make Skillbuilder BOM 2014 Block #3 “Stitches”
  • Take pictures for upcoming “Sunday Stash” Posts Done Feb 18th
  • Wrap fabric piles onto Comic Book Boards Done Feb 19th
  • Quilt Skillbuilder BOM 2014 “Ruler” and “Spools” blocks
  • Write up Riley Blake Challenge blog post Done Feb 19th
  • Write up Sugar Block Club blog post
  • Make January Bag of the Month (put off until March)
  • Make February Bag of the Month (put off until March)
