To Do Tuesday | 9-23-14

To Do Tuesday Button 200 x 200 How did you do with your To-Do list last week?  I was able to cross off all items except for one. You can see my current F Word blocks and last weeks Sugar Block Club on THIS post. I changed my mind and chose not to start the Rosalie quilt pattern using Indelible fabrics.  I really wanted to get all of my scraps cut and put away so they were no longer taking up space.  I’ve also decided that I’d like to get the Eerie Halloween quilt done before starting the Rosalie quilt.  I just might be able to have a Halloween quilt ready to snuggle under by Halloween! As far as the Christmas gift sewing that was on my list, I am testing out the Sew Together Bag pattern.  I was inspired by a print from Valori Wells’ Cocoon line and so I chose purple, teal, black, grey and cream squares out of my freshly cut scraps to make a patchwork piece for the outside of the bag.  I’ve not gotten very far with it, I’m hoping to finish it this coming weekend.

I also managed to finish the second block in the Clouds Factory Whacky Witches in Stitches stitch-along.  I am loving this Halloween sampler a little more than before with every block that is released.

To-Do Tuesday | 9-15-2014

To Do Tuesday Button 200 x 200

To Do Tuesday is back! Yay!  What do you think of the new button? I think it looks so much better than the last one!

Before I go on with this post, I just want to note that I have a giveaway bundle of texty fabric goodness going on until Wednesday night.  To enter, just leave a comment on THIS post.  Winner will be announced on Thursday. Moving on…

I have desperately needed to manage my to-do list since returning from summer vacation. It has been so overwhelming to have all of these projects going on in the back of my mind. Especially since I have had no accountability for getting them done.

Sarah, of Georgia Girl Quilts, has inspired me to start managing my many projects by assigning a day during the week to work on them. That way I will feel like progress is being made with all of my WIPs, rather than pushing a project off to the side in favor of focusing only on one thing.

To catch up, here’s a few things I have been working on:

Over the summer I bought an Eerie charm pack and just received a matching Jelly Roll I bought from Instagram’s #thegreatfabricdestash. I found a super easy tutorial from Missouri Star Quilt Company for making a quilt using just one charm pack and one jelly roll, so I guess I’ll be adding “Make a Halloween Quilt” to my to-do list!

Here is my schedule for managing projects:

  • Monday: Work on blog post. Free Sew day (right now = cutting scraps)
  • Tuesday: F-Word blocks
  • Wednesday: BOM or Bee blocks
  • Thursday: Current shorter term quilt project (right now = Rosalie Quilt)
  • Friday – Sunday: Christmas gifts
  • Evenings: work on Whacky Witches in Stitches cross stitching

This really seems to be a schedule I can work with.  The days are flexible enough that I can run errands and take care of house stuff with the Mister, while at the same time allowing me to make progress on my WIPs.

Here is this weeks To-Do list:

  • Continue working on cutting scraps into 10″, 5″, 3.5″ or 2.5″ squares.Completed 9/20
  • Make two F-Word blocks Completed 9/18
  • Sugar Block Club – May Block “Joy” Completed 9/19
  • Start Rosalie Quilt
  • Fabric pulls & start sewing Christmas gifts Completed 9/22

Now it’s your turn! Write up your post and link up using the InLinkz linky below.  With this new website all the linky’s are supposed to show up individually so it will be a lot easier to visit other websites. Fingers crossed it does exactly that!

Rules:

Stitch ALL The Things | Formerly Red’s Needles & Threads

**Giveaway Closed**

It’s finally here!  The day where I get to reveal my new website!  I am so excited about the new name and theme.  It really feels more like me… I can’t seem to stop wanting to add more stitchy projects to my already lengthy To-Do list.  Whether it’s quilting, sewing, cross stitching, I just love to “Stitch ALL The Things”! I hope the website conveys that. I should also mention that there’s a giveaway at the bottom of this post, and who doesn’t like a fabric-y giveaway?!

I will be continuing To-Do Tuesday’s and you can see the new blog button in the sidebar on the right side of the page.  The code is there too, so you can grab it and/or add it to your blog or To-Do Tuesday posts.  I know it’s a pain to have to update this if you’ve already got the old button on your blog, but I think this one looks a lot better than the old one.  What do you think?

I’ve moved all of the content over from the old blog, Red’s Needles & Threads.  I have not changed watermarked photos though.  So you will see the old name on images in older posts. In one week the old blog will be redirecting to this one.

Okay, now to the fun stuff — A giveaway!  Yippee!!

Giveaway Collage

Included are 10 fat quarters and 3 half yards of texty prints, all quilt shop quality.  There’s a pack of Sublime Stitching woven labels, a Bad Ass Quilter keychain, a package of KONA laser cut hexies and a  strip of Melody Miller Ruby Star Shining typewriters that has three full typewriters.

The rules are simple… Just leave me a comment.  You can tell me what you think of the new website, leave me a link to your own website, say “Hi”, or just tell me “I Wanna Win!” (but you have to say that in your head Nacho LIbre style).  Whatever you’d like!  The giveaway ends Wednesday, the 17th at 9:00PM Pacific Time.  Winner will be announced on Thursday.

BONUS… there is a similar giveaway on Instagram!  If you go to my profile, look for the giveaway post, and repost the image with the hashtag #StitchAllTheThingsGiveaway you’ll be entered to win a similar bundle. That giveaway also ends on Wednesday.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope to see you tomorrow for To-Do Tuesday (where all linky’s will show up individually…Yay)!

Big Blog Changes Coming

I took a break from blogging over the summer, but didn’t quite mean to stay away so long.  And, in true Christine fashion, I have since decided to completely change things up for my blog.  Which meant I’ve kept myself from adding to the blog in anticipation of changes.

First, a few brief catch up collages:

Mister and I went to Oregon for vacation this summer where we indulged in way too much food and spent way too much time going to thrift shops and estate sales.

I also visited a few quilt shops.  I ended up coming home with over 40 yards, yes YARDS, of fabric.  Um… gulp! (but secretly…. squeeeeeee!!!)

So. Much. Fabric. Not pictured is Greenbaum's Quilted Forest storefront, but I did get an inside picture.

I started doing cross stitching to keep from going through quilting withdrawals.  And promptly became addicted.  Now I have a routine of quilting/sewing during the day and my evenings are spent cross stitching.

I completed my daughter’s graduation quilt just as I was leaving for summer.  I’ve also done a Sugar Block Club block (still far behind on those!) and a few Modern Insta Bee Blocks.

Okay, now that catch up is done, down to bidness… I have not really been excited about my blog name since the beginning.  I probably should have waited to start my blog when I had a name I loved, but I was impatient and just went with the closest blog name that sounded ok.  Which is so like me.  Having said that, I am in the midst of moving this blog content over to a new website with a new name.  Yippee!!  I have a name that I love, that really seems to be me, and is no longer associated with my hair color.

I am aiming to do the move in one week — next Tuesday.  I will do a reveal then, and will possibly have a giveaway to celebrate (and to motivate you all to go follow my new website instead of this one!).  I WILL be starting up To-Do Tuesdays again if you’re interested in continuing to participate in that. A positive change for To Do Tuesdays is that on the new website you’ll be able to see all the individual links at the bottom of the page…. Awesome!

Now that I’ve given myself a deadline, I’m off to get everything done.  I actually have the title of the new website somewhere within this post.  Leave me a comment if you think you’ve found it. Unless your name is Sarah and you blog over at Georgia Girl Quilts (she already knows). Or you’re Mister, since he knows too.  Have a wonderful week and I hope you’ll stay tuned for the new website reveal!
